Our collective histories come together during every auspicious day, every treasured festival in a circle of rituals that reaffirm our identity. There are colourful silks, exchanged greetings, dances, aromas, scents and solemnities but every ritual truly centres around its lavish, extravagant food; in its gathering, its preparation and ultimately the partaking of it.

What if this celebratory food was a measure of our sense of self? What if every morsel held the secret to who we are, where we come from and who we were intended to be- in a careful choice of grain, sweetness, cashew or milk? What if the food we cook with love and excess on these special days, is evidence of our geographies, our economies, our failures and our triumphs?
